The upper potomac is a generally shallow river. how do you fish it? i fish the upper potomac primarily from my aluminium jet boat. the jet drive gets me to most spots i want to fish on the river, and the 24 volt trolling motor allows me to hold and work spots in current. the jet drive is great for the shallow water in the upper potomac. We did a kayak fishing float trip from brunswick, md to the lander boat ramp, a beautiful stretch of the upper potomac river. we experienced low water levels, but it was still a successful day.. I have launched out of riverbend park on the upper potomac 2 times now, once in a rented boat with my son and a friend, and once with a buddy in the little 2 man boat i borrowed from dennis. i don't see myself putting my ranger in these waters, but i have and will continue to put it in the doah' out west off 66, at the riverton boat ramp..
